WEBINAR – Book 6 Civil Code: Changes for the insurance sector

Webinar: The Impact of Book 6 BW on the Insurance Sector

Since 1 January 2025, the new rules on extra-contractual liability have come into force via Book 6 BW. This legal reform affects not only the structure of the Civil Code, but also has practical consequences for insurers, claims handlers and legal professionals who deal with liability and compensation every day.

On Thursday, 19 June 2025, from 12:00 to 14:15, I will be giving a live online webinar in collaboration with Confocus. This session offers a practical, focused analysis of what really changes.

What will we cover?

We’ll explore key questions such as:

  • How does Book 6 affect the handling of claims?
Significant changes apply to both property damage and personal injury cases.
  • How do extended liability provisions affect insurers’ duty to provide cover?
  • Are liability insurers now potentially required to cover new types of damage, such as preventive costs or profits resulting from intentional acts?
  • What has changed in terms of recourse and subrogation options?
  • Is the abolition of the concurrency prohibition relevant for insurance practice?
  • At what point should damages be assessed?
A highly topical question in light of the updated indicative table in 2024.

Who should attend?

This session is aimed at insurers, claims handlers, brokers, lawyers and legal advisors who deal with extra-contractual liability cases in practice. Whether you work in an internal legal department or assess claims daily, this webinar will offer valuable insights and practical tools.
